It has been a while since I posted a personal post, but I think it’s time to post a bit of an update.
The major one is I now have my sights firmly set on University, with a particular aim for The University of Reading. Previously I had been a little adverse to the idea of going to university however, new and old friends have shown me it isn’t as bad as I previously thought, and now I am actually getting rather excited about it…
So why Reading? Simple. I’m a geek. I recently took a trip to the Microsoft Campus, which is the UK Microsoft HQ which is based in Reading and through this I have made a very cool friend who has helped convince me that University is a great option for me. The main reason is as I am looking to do the Applied Computer Engineering course this will provide the option to do my 3rd year in the industry, and “Reading is the silicon valley of the UK” – so it seems like an obvious place to start! With some great companies including Microsoft, Apple, Oracle, TweetMeme, DediPower and no doubt many many more there are a lot of great places I can try and get into for that year industry placement. With London just up the road, and a mere 20 minute train ride away, the possibilities seem pretty open, especially as Google has a London office.
So this was only a brief update, but was a must, apologies about not blogging about my Microsoft visit! Although most of the really cool stuff I can’t publish! But its good. Really good. REALLY REALLY GOOD. All I can say, Windows 7 Phone is awesome, if some one is feeling generous, I wouldn’t mind one in my stocking!
I am hoping to really get a grip on the tech scene over the next year, so look as will hopefully be properly testing, reviewing and beta testing some new software. (Currently testing the new 2011 version of Windows Live Writer while writing this post). Will try to get some posts out about the Windows Live Essentials 2011 which I have now installed, and which seems pretty incredible.
